Frequently Asked Questions:
What do you charge for puppies, and what does the price include?
Comar puppies are $3000.00+HST and our puppies are sold on non breeding agreements with Canadian Kennel Club registration, six weeks of health insurance from Pets Plus Us, four weeks of health insurance from Trupanion, a puppy starter kit from Royal Canin (including coupons for your first bag of food and a sample bag of food), a martingale collar, a genetic health guarantee, and lifetime breeder support. What health testing do you do?
All of our Whippets have current OFA NORMAL advanced cardiac screens and OFA NORMAL CERF eye exams. All of our bitches have been genetically screened by Embark Veterinary DNA. We do our best to ensure we are breeding only healthy and sound dogs.
When can I come for a visit?
When you come to pick up your puppy. At that time we will be delighted to introduce you to any of our dogs including the Dam (Mother) and Sire (Dad)(if on site). We do not do visits while we have puppies that have not been vaccinated.
Do you remove dew claws?
Yes as a rule we do. It reduces the risk of injury.
When do the puppies leave for their new home?
Our puppies stay here until they are at least 8 weeks old. They will have their first set of vaccinations from our veterinarian.
Where do your dogs live?
Our dogs are our house pets, they live with us in our home. Our puppies are born in our bedroom, where they spend the first four weeks of their life. Our dogs do not live in a kennel building but they are kennel trained and sleep in their kennels.
What food do you feed?
We feed Royal Canin puppy food and breeding specific formulas. Our adult dogs are fed Eukanuba Performance. We are proud to be Royal Canin Elite Breeders.
What vaccines do Comar puppies come with?
Our puppies are dewormed with Strongid at 2,4,6 and 8 weeks. They receive their first of three DHPP at 7 weeks old and then should receive a booster shot every 4 weeks thereafter until three doses have been administered. At the (minimim) age of 16 weeks old they should receive their Rabies vaccine.
We live internationally, will you ship your puppies?
Our puppies must be picked up from our home in Haliburton. We do not ship puppies alone. In special circumstances arrangements can be made for us to travel to you to deliver your puppy.
Are you a member of the Canadian Kennel Club?
Yes! I am a member in good standing of the Canadian Kennel Club, Comar is a registered kennel prefix with the CKC and I am the President of the newly founded Haliburton Kennel Club.
