Chris’s interest in the Bedlington Terrier began as a groomer – the Bedlington has the most incredibly difficult show trim, a trim that challenges even the finest groomers in the world. While at a grooming competition Chris met Eevee, a Bedlington bred by Bonnie Nelson at Bluenote/Ispy Bedlingtons and quickly fell in love.

On Thanksgiving 2015 Howie came home to Haliburton.

Since coming to Comar Howie has achieved great things in the show world, ranking #1 Bedlington Terrier in Canada in 2017 (Top Dog Points), winning Best of Opposite Sex at the Hatboro Dog Show, winning many group placements from first through fourth. At the age of 11 months Howie completed his Canadian Championship mostly on group placements due to a lack of competition at the breed level. By the age of 16 months Howie completed his Canadian Grand Championship.

Howie achieved his Canine Good Neighbor title (CGN) at the Sault Ste Marie Dog Show in 2018. In addition to his prolific show career, Howie works daily as a medical service dog for Chris – he was trained to alert to changes in chemistry relating to a blood clotting disorder that Chris has.

Howie has sired two litters in Canada and is currently standing at limited stud in Canada and the United States.
